Altland House: A Brief History
One of the oldest hotels in the US, the Altland House, located in
Adams County has been around since 1763. Over the years, the building has
undergone changes and so has the name. The first few confirmed names of this
place were, Sign of the Indian King, Indian King, Rising Sun House of
Entertainment and the Washington Hotel. Finally, it was bought by a businessman
named Rueben Altland, in the later part of the 19th century, whose name has
stuck to the place, ever since. His family owned it for nearly a hundred years
before selling it. The establishment is now run by Ryan Haugh, whose
grandmother Betty Haugh, took it over from the Altland family.
Something Special About Altland House
Going by the sheer number of years this establishment has been around,
is enough to make a wild guess regarding what the guest list must have been
like. It is a virtual who’s who of politics and entertainment. However, a place
like this would not last this long if it didn’t have good service. The hotel
has a grill, pub and brewery attached to it, serving up amazing food along with
craft beer. In fact, after doing their research Altland House, not
surprisingly, runs one of the oldest taverns in the country.
Throw a Party
Today, this establishment has 10 hotel rooms, two banquet rooms, a
brewery and two restaurants. If you are planning on throwing a party or doing a
wedding reception, the owners will make sure that it goes flawlessly. The
variety of food choices on the menu is capable of making even the most critical
foodie happy. Some of the items on the menu go back nearly a hundred years!
Whatever your taste is, one thing for sure is that Altland House continues to
deliver old world charm in a modern setting, like nobody else. Visit this https://www.thealtlandhouse.com/ for more details.
